Day 39 – today we attended pilgrims mass at the Cathedral. While I am not Catholic this was a touching ceremony to close this phase of our journey. For Morgan this was a very emotional ceremony. Getting to stay in a renovatedmonastery a real bonus.
F or us this has been an epic and life changing adventure and quest. 770 km or 490 miles (OK we will round up to 500 miles for times we were lost) from St Jean to Santiago.
It’s also about the people we have met. The languages ( S Korean, French, German, Romanian Spanish and much more). It has reaffirmed my belief that we are all connected. More a like than differences.
This trail has covered all the bases – easy, dangerous, hard, joy, ecstasy, steep, rocky, smooth, pain, cities, countryside, isolated, crowded, hot, cold and the list goes on. I guess this is life. It also seems perhaps I have changed my life. It will be interesting to see what happens over time.
Today I met Gunde and Nani (originally from Ethiopia) a married couple living in Sweden. They walked to hear a clear voice from God.
I hold this day special for my bonus Mother Dottie Patterson. She took such good care of my father and loves being part of our family (go figure).
We have decided to go to the coast but may take the bus. Can’t wait to see the sunset over the Atlantic.
Still 0 miles to Santiago.
