06/06 At the Start of the Camino

June 06, 2014 – It has arrived!  After a seven hour journey from Madrid by train; and then by van, we have arrived in St Jean Pied-De Port, France.

We picked up our Credetials.  This is our Camino de Santiago passport.  This. Is our passport to enter the Alnergues (Hostel type accommodations).  They will be stampeded at each stop all the way to Santiago (500 miles from the start).

I must admit I have felt nervous on the train ride  to France.  The first day is 25 km or 15,6 miles over a 4,700 ft mountain. When we first saw the mountain my wife said ” holy crap Batman, that is a tall mountain”, especially with a 18lb backpack.

For my Wife Morgan this is a spiritual journey (I’m the guy traveling with her).  I look at this as a challenge and adventure.

Our first steps start tomorrow morning at 7;00AM.
