Day 25 – Morgan has been struggling with a real sore little toe. It was so bad she could not wear her hiking shoes. So we are taking an extra day in Leon. We have both enjoyed the change up and are enjoying the hustle and bustle of the old inner city.
As it turns out, giving the feet and legs a break has been good.
The people on the trail have made a real difference. Like Jonathon from S Africa and Angelica from the Bay Area who gave sound advice and have helped Morgan nurse her injury during the last couple of days. We may not have made it without them.
Today we met other pilgrims who are taking an extra day in Leon. Like Glida from Lithuania who has completed the trek twice. First time to figure out life; the second for fun . Fun?
Daniel from Germany is walking to free his mind.
Last night we ran into our friend Charlie from Sydney. He is a retired merchant marine. I think retirement needed a purpose, so he is walking the Camino. Good to see him smiling and with a companion.
Today I face my cold feet fears. Tomorrow calls for rain starting at 50 degrees. I opted for breathable non waterproof shoes. Now argh! Rain is forecasted for the next several days. Will this be a new test ?
Tomorrow lightning storms and rain, no go. Rain probably a go.
One more day of 197.2 miles to Santiago.
